Phoebe works with ADHD adults on executive functioning difficulties that affect everyday life. This can include task initiation, planning and prioritisation, time management, organisation, routines, motivation, emotional regulation, overload and burnout.

Phoebe came to ADHD coaching following her own ADHD assessment and a period of significant burnout after working in a high-intensity professional environment. Her experience of understanding ADHD intellectually, while still having to work out what that knowledge meant in practice, contributed to her decision to train as an ADHD coach.

How does Phoebe work?

Phoebe’s coaching begins with a clear understanding of the difficulty the person wants to address. A problem such as repeatedly missing deadlines, being unable to initiate an important task or maintaining a routine for several weeks before it stops working is examined in enough detail to identify the factors contributing to it.
From there, Phoebe works collaboratively with the person to develop strategies that fit their executive functioning profile and everyday circumstances. This may involve changing the structure of a task, introducing external supports, reducing demands on working memory, or testing different approaches to planning, organisation and task initiation.
Strategies are evaluated according to how well they function in everyday life. A system may be effective for a period and become less useful when demands, circumstances or interest change. Phoebe uses that information to understand what has changed and adapt the approach accordingly.

What are sessions with Phoebe like?

Sessions are informal in manner while retaining a clear practical focus. Phoebe and the client identify what they want to work on, examine the factors making it difficult, and use the session to develop or refine an approach that can be tested between appointments.

There is no expectation that attention has to look a particular way. Clients can move, fidget, eat, change position or attend from somewhere other than a desk if this helps them think and participate.
Humour and informality are welcome, but the session remains purposeful. The aim is to leave with a clearer understanding of the problem and a practical next step.
